A social media post about a doctor in private practice in Mpumalanga who is refusing to treat patients who haven’t received the COVID-19 vaccine has got many people talking. Most people are wondering why he does not want to treat patients just because, they are not vaccinated when people go to hospital to be treated for whatever sickness that they will be having in the very first place. Some have congratulated him, and others say he should be stripped of his licence.
Specialist physician Dr Tafara Machiri spoke to the eNCA and explained what he meant by his post, he says most individuals took it out of proportion and that this was just something that was meant for his colleagues and friends. He says they were about 100 and only 10 of them vaccinated, and then the rest of the group did not want to vaccinate. So he spoke to them as a friend and colleague, informing them to get their vaccine jabs so that they can be protected against the virus but they all refused.
4 weeks ago, most of them started dying from the virus...while some of them were even fortunate enough to make it after being admitted in hospital. He then put that poster on his door because he had warned them and they did not want to listen, so he wanted to make it clear to them that he won't be associating with people who are not vaccinated. He is so sad that five of his friends died from the virus, but he also wants this to be a lesson to people who are busy resisting to vaccinate.
He says he vaccinated in February and he is doing just fine even now, so he is wondering why other people are still scared of vaccinating when there is nothing wrong with the vaccine. He says even some of his friends were scared of the vaccine because of these rumours that had been spread on social media. So people should stop consulting social media, and listen to health experts when they’re telling them that's the vaccine is 100% safe and nothing will happen to them.
