JOHANNESBURG – After testing positive for covid-19, Home Affairs Minister Dr Aaron Motsoaledi has been placed in self isolation.
This comes as scientists try to figure out the new Omicron form, which he WHO has labeled a "variant of concern."
On Saturday, the National Coronavirus Command Council will convene to discuss the latest developments in the pandemic, particularly the increasing number of infections.
The Minister in charge of the Presidency after testing for covid-19, Mondli Gungubele wished his counterpart, Home Affairs Minister Dr Aaron Motsoaledi a speedy recovery.
Gungubele said in a statement that the Minister of Home Affairs is in good health and is self isolating.
Over the last 24 hour cycle, South Africa registered 2,828 new cases and twelve Covid-19 related deaths, according to Motsoaledi's positive Covid-19 result.
Meanwhile on Saturday, the National Coronavirus Command Council will convene to discuss the recent surge in new infections as well as the implications of he the omicron variety.
South Africans have been warned to be vaccinated follow covid-19 precautions.
