Cooking has become an issue since Eskom introduced stage 6 load shedding. The load shedding is forcing people to be innovative, creative and look at other means of being to eat without using electricity. Being in the urban areas has even made this worse as one cannot cook on an open fire outside the house.
As much as people are being innovative, but I am worried about the safety of some cooking methods that people are using.
When a Facebook user posted a picture of a pot using candles to cook food. He captioned the picture with 'stage 6, ziyakhala' meaning that it is tough.
Even though I was concerned about the safety of this cooking method, people were sharing their stories of how they cooked rice and meat using candles and the food was properly cooked.
In the case of load shedding, what have you used to ensure you are able to eat at night. Do you have any alternative methods, please share your tips.
