Opinion : Make your dumpling interesting by adding carrots to your dumpling.

Dumplings recipe is one of the go to recipe to cooking a delicious meal which will leave your family licking their fingers. Dumplings are sometimes called steamed bread due to the cooking method used. Essentially it is bread that is cooked on steam. Yes bread cooked on steam and it turning out to be well cooked that everyone will be asking for the recipe so that they can try it out themselves. Here is a recipe to make mouthwatering carrot infused dumplings:

Ingredients 

2 cups all-purpose white flour

2 tablespoons of oil

1 teaspoon of yeast

1 teaspoon of baking powder 

1/2 teaspoon salt

Pinch of sugar

1 grated carrot 

1 cup of warm water

Method

Step 1 Using a large bowl add your dry ingredients. You will be adding your flour, baking powder, yeast and sugar. Once you mixed your dry ingredients add in your grated carrots and mix altogether. 

Step 2. Once you have mixed your dry ingredients add your oil and water gradually to your dough. Mix together until the dough is soft, then mix all your ingredients together cover you with plastic for 1/2 hour for your dough to rise.

Step 3 : Once your dough has doubled in size it's time to add it to greased metal bowl. You can use a strong cup, or muffin baking trays. Make sure that your cooking utensils will not break when cooking. This is because some people use a 1 kg yoghurt cup to cook dumplings. The challenge with this is that the cup may melt in the pot. Rather use a metal or clay pot utensil when cooking dumplings.

Step 4. Once you added your dumpling on a greased metal bowl put it on a large bowl and add 3 cups of water to your pot. note that water shouldn't be above the metal bowl. Even your dough should not be cover the bowl completely. Instead it should cover 3 thirds of the metallic bowl. This is because of the double acting ingredient of yeast and baking powder which will make the dough to rise to perfection. When cooking dumplings one should avoid opening the cooking pot frequently as the cold air will disturb the dumpling and make it not to rise evenly.

Once the dumpling changes colour and has a crack at the centre it is well cooked. Cut into slices and serve with chicken curry.

Serves 4 people.
