I love takeout food but there are times in the year when thtbisnt possible. It shouldn't mean you can't get that same restuarant taste at home for less. You get more bang for your buck and isn't that the whole point of grocery shopping?
That was how these Wors Burgers came about and you won't regret making them!
This recipe needs a brave effort and zero experience with cooking. You can make the patties and freeze them should you desire to to so. I really couldn't get any easier and it used a flavour that South Africans enjoy.
Spicy Wors Burger
This burger will change the way you eat!
Ingredients
• 400g of Wors (any kind of meat is good. It's up to you.)
• 400g of Lean Beef Mince
• 1/4 cup of Bread Crumbs(plain) OR 1/2 of Crushed Crackers (plain)
• 2 tablespoons of Worcestershire sauce
• 2 tablespoons of milk
• 1 egg
• 1 teaspoon of salt
• 1 teaspoon of pepper
• 1 teaspoon of cayenne pepper
• 1 teaspoon of dried chilli
• 1 teaspoon of thyme
• 1 teaspoon of paprika
Method
Squeeze your wors meat out of the casing.
Add all the ingredients together in one bowl and use your hand to mix it together until fully incorporated but do not overmix.
Line a baking that with wax paper or cling wrap
In your bowl, divide the mixture evenly until it makes 6-8 patties like the image below
Shape them into the flat burger shape with your hands and place them on your baking tray. Use a spoon to make a slight dip in the middle to avoid the burger making a dome shape.
You can now fry, grill or bake them to your hearts content! Serve sizzling hot between some buns with mozzarella, cheddar or gouda cheese and voila!
You can also freeze them on the tray and stack them between more wax paper and use them at a later stage.
