Are you allergic to eggs? Find it hard to have many baked products because many of them contain eggs? Perhaps you are vegan and don't consume animal products. At times it's a struggle to find foods with little to zero trace of animal traits in them. If this is the case, worry no more. There are ways to circumvent this challenge and enjoy many baked goodies which don't have any egg in them. One of them is an eggless chocolate cake. Recipe goes as such:

Ingredients

750 ml cake wheat flour

500 ml castor sugar

200 ml cocoa powder

225 margarine

125 ml hot water

500 ml cold water

15 ml baking powder

4 teaspoons of no egg powder. (Can be purchased at Dischem stores)

Chocolate cake icing ingredients

250g of margarine

125 ml of cocoa powder

400g icing sugar.

Method

Preheat oven to 180 degrees Celsius.

In a medium sized bowl mix cocoa with 125 ml of hot water. Mix using a wooden spoon and set aside.

In another bowl cream margarine and sugar until ingredients are light and creamy. Add the no egg powder along side with 8 tablespoons of cold water into this mixture. Follow through with the first mixture of cocoa and mix ingredients well.

Fold in the dry ingredients and water

Grease your baking trays and bake for 30 minutes. To check of your cake is well cooked use a skewer and poke at the centre of your cake. When it comes out clean it means your cake is now ready.

Icing

Beat your cocoa into softened margarine. Add icing sugar and milk. Use baking spatula and ice your cake.

Another recipe which does not need an egg is the cheese scones. These type of scones are mouth watering and very addictive due to their heavenly taste.

Ingredients

450 g self raising wheat flour

300 ml milk

140 g cheddar cheese

110 margarine

Method

Preheat oven to 200 degrees Celsius

Mix together flour and cheese. Stir in your cheese add milk and fold in until you have a soft dough. On a flat surface which has sprinkles of flour, knead your dough and use a scone cutter to have 2 cm thick doughs. Place them on a baking sheet and continue until all the dough is used.

Brush your scones with milk and bake for 15 minutes. Once your cheese scones are golden brown and have risen take them out and allow them to cool on a wire rack.

Serves 3.

The great thing about both these ingredients have no eggs in them and are both great to eat. Satisfy your pallete and enjoy.
