Did you know that there are conventional ways to cook mushrooms instead of making a soup out of them. Quit cooking in one way everyday and be versatile by cooking in a variety of ways. Just when your family is thinking you will be making soup, twist things a little and make deep fried mushrooms. These are tasty and very addictive. Remember to have anything in moderation. Follow this recipe and you'll thank yourself for trying it out.

Fried Mushrooms

Ingredients:

1 kg whole fresh mushrooms

1 cup flour

½ cup cornstarch

¾ teaspoon baking powder

¼ teaspoon salt

half a cup of water

half a cup of milk

2 cups breadcrumbs (preferably southern coating brand)

2 eggs

Instructions:

Step 1: In a large bowl mix flour, baking powder, cornstarch bread crumbs and salt.

Step 2: Using another medium sized bowl break two eggs and mix them using a fork. Add a pinch of salt and your milk. Mix until a smooth batter has formed. Dip mushrooms into the batter and coat evenly. Allow excess batter to drip off.

Step 3: Take the first bowl with bread crumbs and roll the mushrooms in breadcrumbs until they are coloated thoroughly. Repeat the process until all mushrooms are coated.

Step 3: Heat deep fryer to 365 degrees. Deep fry mushrooms in batches until they are golden brown. Using a draining spoon take out your mushrooms and drain them on a paper towel. You may use any amount of paper towels which are necessary. Usually 3 paper towels should be enough. The paper towels will drain out any access oils to avoid too much intake of oil thus leading to cardio vascular diseases. Allow to cool for 2 minutes. Take your mushrooms and serve them with relish and pap.


Serve with pap and relish.
