How to cook spinach at home ?

Spinach is one of the superfood meaning it is rich with nutrients and minerals. Most of people seems to love spinach and enjoy planting it in their garden as one of the vegetables. Even hospitals reccomend giving patients spinach as part of their meals so that they can recover fast from whatever landed them there in a first place. Everyone should try to eat spinach to boost their immune system.

Before you can cook spinach, you must first prepare your fire if your are going to use wood or if you cook inside the house by stove, you must turn it on. You must take the spinach leafs and wash them through maybe 2 to 3 times. Ther eason to wash them through is to ensure that the small stones from the garden have been removed from the leafs because when the vegetable still on the soil. It is exposed to extreme conditions like wind, hot sun and other things that can make the leafs to accumulate the small stones.

Spinach stems even of some young leaves are fibrous, stringy and difficult to eat especially after cooking. Remove the stems before washing ,discard them or save them to add to a vegetable stock.

After washing them through you must prepare your pot or pan that you are going to use to cook. Heat a large saute pan over medium heat, then add the oil. Once the oil is hot add spinach, a handful at a time, stirring to slightly wilt before adding the next handful. Saute until all the spinach is wilted, about 2 to 4 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.

Bring a pot of water to boil, dip the spinach in it for 1 minute. Take out the blanched spinach and immediately plunge it in a pot of cold water. This method is the most effective and recommended! Blanched spinach is perfectly cooked, harmful bacteria are killed and the spinach does not lose its nutrients.

Spinach is nutrient dense whether you eat it raw or cooked. While some nutrients are lost during the cooking process, cooked spinach is a lot more compact. so you can eat more of it in one sitting, making it easier to consume more nutrients overall. Using the right cooking methods can help you limit nutrient losses.
