Good morning everyone, i hope that you are having a lovely Monday dispite the cold weather. Today i want to share with you some photos of bizarre festival in which people throw tomatoes at each other all in the name of fun.
Tomatoes are fruits that most people use a lot. It tastes very good in salads, on burgers, in sandwhiches, grilled and much more. They are easy to plant and are packed with a lot of vitamins and antioxidants that our bodies require to keep fit and strong. Most of us wouldn't think of wasted tomatoes but not the people from Spain. La Tomatina is a festival that takes place in the town of Bunol Spain. People taking part throw tomatoes at each other and also engage in tomato fights. It is purely done in the name of fun and is for entertainment purposes only. La tomatina takes place on the last wednesday in August almost every year. During the Corona virus pandemic it had to be put on hold. The festival usually lasts for an hour and leaves the town covered in tomato debris. Fire trucks have to deployed to clean up the town after the participants are done. There are rules that have to be followed though. Participants are not allowed to throw anything except for tomatoes, no tearing of clothes is allowed, they are not allowed to throw tomatoes on buildings or any cars. They have to listen and follow directions from the security officers. Before throwing the tomatoes they have to be squashed so that nobody gets injured. Once the final bell is sounded the festival ends and nobody is allowed to throw tomatoes.
