From Wheelbarrow to Bakkie: Amazing Story of Limpopo Chef

Hard work pays, but success is not just a result of hard work. It is rather a combination of hard work, consistency and faith. This is the success formula and story of the 34-years old Tumelo Motau. A Limpopo-based chef, Motau chose to create job for ourselves rather than searching the street for unavailable employment.

Using what she knows best as a trained chef with culinary skills, Motau put her skills to best use by starting a bakery five years ago. It was days of small beginning for the young chef as her bakery was home based.

Then came the challenge of transportation for delivery. Chef Motau was undaunted, she resorted to wheelbarrow to move from one point to the other as she supplied her customers.

Six years after, Chef Motau has moved up the ladder as she now own a bakkie which she uses to supply customers with bread, fat cakes and bread rolls.

Chef Motau has not only grown her business, she is now a proud employer of labour having full time staff working for her.

Tumelo Motau's story is a testimony that entrepreneursship is the way to go when government's efforts to provide employment is ineffective in curbing unemployment.
