An Easy KitKat Chocolate Cake From a South African Chef

A Well known household name and South African chef, Zanele made a simple KitKat Chocolate Cake for you to impress your family or friends. Kids love it too.

Here is what you will need:

2 cups flour

6 eggs, separated (set egg yolk on another container and egg white on another container)

2 cups of butter

1 cup cocoa powder

One and half cup sugar

Dash of vanilla essence

2 teaspoon baking powder

1 teaspoon of salt

1 Tablespoon cream of tartar


Preheat the oven to 160°C.

Mix the butter, salt and sugar in a bowl.

Add the seperated beaten egg yolks and the drop of the vanilla essence/ extract in the mixture.

Mix the egg white using an electric whisk or hand whisk if you do not have one. Pour the cream of tartar into the egg white.

Mix the egg white with the egg yolk mixture. Sift flour, cocoa powder and baking powder.

Stir the whole mixture without overdoing it and put into different round cake tins.

Bake for 30 minutes

Here is the frosting recipe:

2 caramel tins of 360g each

1/2 cup cream

Use a hand whisk to mix the cream and caramel until they are smooth, not to runny.

Put the frosting between the two cakes, just like a spread in a sandwich.

Top the cake with the frosting and spread it around the exterior of the cake.

Put kitkat finger chocolates and decorate as you like.
