Soft Rolls recipe.

5 cups of white cake flour

1 teaspoon of salt

1 tablespoon of sugar

1 packet of yeast (10g)

1 cup boiling water

1 cup lukewarm milk

1/2 cup oil

Step 1 : Using a medium sized bowl, mix the dry ingredients first, this means you pour flour, make a well a small hole at the centre of the flour and pour your sugar, salt and instant yeast to the flour. From there you proceed to the wet ingredients. This means after using a wooden spoon to mix your dry ingredients you then add your egg and pour in water to the dry ingredients. From there you will leave your wooden spoon and start to use your clean hands.

Step 2 : Knead the dough for 7-8mins. Leave the dough to rise double in size (about 1 hr). You should leave your dough on a sunny area such as on top on a brick that absorbs heat on a sunny day. When the dough is outside preheat the oven to 180°C. Once your dough has risen take it back to the kitchen and proceed with step 3.

Step 3: Knead your dough and make small balls with it. Make about 12-14 round small balls which are equal in size. Afterwards line a baking pan with baking paper or grease the pan with margarine/butter. Leave to rise for 15mins.

Step 4: Bake the rolls for 16-18 mins. Once the rolls change colour and become brown at the top they are ready. Remove rolls from oven and brush them with butter/margarine whilst they are still hot.

Best served warm with hot chocolate.
