Lalela Mswane took the title of Miss South Africa
Lalela Mswane (24) of KwaZulu-Natal has made history by winning the Miss South Africa title
Lalela from Sokhulu, Richards Bay, who competed against two women, Moratwe Masima from Gauteng and Zimi Mabunzi from the Eastern Cape, won the title after the judges explained their clear answers to questions at the competition which was broadcast at the Grand West Arena in Cape Town yesterday.
Before being selected for the contest, the ladies first clashed with their teammates Bianca Bezuidenhout, Catherine Grounewald, Cheneil Hartenberg, Jeanni Mulder, Kaylan Mathews, Kgothatso Dithebe and Tiffany Francis, who competed in the competition.
The event was hosted by Anele Mdoda and Nico Panagio.
Leading the charge were Miss Universe in 2018 and 2019, including Zozibini Tunzi and Catherene Gray.
Among the judges were Metro FM presenter Dineo Ranaka, Miss Universe 2015 Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach, Tamary Green (2018), Basetsana Khumalo (1994) actress The Queen, Shannon Estra and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Cape Town and Mamokgethi Phakeng.
The entertainers included Zakes Bantwini, Ndlovu Yourh Choir and Ntokozo Mbambo.
The event, which started airing on 5pm, was broadcast live on Mzanzi Magic on Channel 161 and on Mnet.
