By Nhlanhla Maseko

A lot has been happening and many have been wondering whether the new Miss SA, Lalela Nswane will be representing South Africa or not in the upcoming Miss Universe event. The good news is that she has made a decision.

Lalela Mswane is the current Miss South Africa and was crowned this year. She is not only the current Miss SA but has other things she is busy with being dancing and modeling. Mswane is the daughter of the late Muntu Mswane who was once a minister in Eswatinu and holds a Bachelor of Law Degree from the University of Pretoria whereby she graduated in 2019.Lalela took over as Miss SA from Shudufhadzo Musida. There has been many calls for her not to go to Israel or take part in the Miss Universe event due to what is happening in Israel.

However, Miss Lalela Mswane has decided that she will be part of the Miss Universe event regardless of the continuous calls in relation to the Miss Universe event. Miss Mswane took to social media announcing her decision of taking part in the Miss Universe event accompanied by reasons.

"It is with so much gratitude that i prepare to represent my beautiful South African at the 70th Miss Universe competition. There is no greater time to shed light on issues affecting women, to choose courage over comfort and to be steadfast in my beliefs regarding the advancement of woman and our rights",Miss Lalela Mswane said on Instagram.

"I view my participation in the pageant as an opportunity as a unique opportunity to not only do just that but also be part of and hopefully contribute to a process of dialogue and peace",Mswane added.

It is good that finally, Miss Lalela Mswane has taken a decision of going to represent Mzansi at the Miss Universe event for herself looking at what works for her without having been influenced by other people. It was unfair that people were ordering her to not go while she has every right to attend the event. What is now left is that the public must respect and go with her decision as she knows what she wants to achieve by being part of the Miss Universe event.
