"Cancel Miss SA" Chris Excel says on TL

"Cancel Miss SA" Chris Excel says on TL

While you're here please follow me.

There have been controversies around pageants and whether they should continue, considering the fact that they exist just to bank on standard forms of beauty.

Last night, MISS SA was aired and we saw our second ever Tsonga Miss SA being crowned. Her name is Ndavhi Nokeri from Tzaneen.

Now, as much as people are happy that Miss SA was crowned, others feel that the pageantry as a project should be cancelled altogether because it apparently serves no purpose.

One of the people saying such is Chris Excel Twitter's busiest catfish. He took to the TL to write the following statement:

The money that the government use to fund Miss SA can put food on thousands of struggling families. That thing is contributing nothing to society!!!

Apart from the statement stirring debate on the TL, it is false that the government is the one that funds the pageantry. Instead, the pageantry is sponsored by quite a number of organizations including Mercedes Benz, Mnet, Mzansi Magic, Woolworths, American Swiss and Mother kind amongst many others.

For people to be black mailed into not doing anything because we have poverty as a problem is ridiculous. The country not hosting the pageantry will not eliminate poverty. Until the funds that are meant to alleviate poverty are utilised properly, we will want to boycott everything and guilt trip people from living their best lives.

There are parts of pageantries that I don't really agree with but to say they should be cancelled because there's poverty, is a bit uncalled for.

Miss Sa should not be cancelled just because Chris Excel says so.
