The list of the beauty queens making up our Miss SA Top 30 for 2022 has been dropped!
One thing about South African girlies? They are really gorgeous and that's even an understatement.
As expected, some people have combed in an impressive fanbase already!
Such a person is Zoey Seboe. Zoe Seboe is a 22-year old final year student of Bachelor of Commerce in law. In addition to that, she has a rare skin condition that forces her to take up more space than her beauty already takes.
She has a skin condition called Lamellar ichthyosis. This is a skin condition that people are born with and it creates an abnormal production of the dead layer of the skin.
Her presence in the contest is a statement. She is breaking and challenging our rather boxed view of beauty.
However, not everyone feels the same about this. Some have alleged that her skin condition will make people and the judges feel obligated to vote for her out of pity.
I think that's very insulting because it banks on the idea that she comes as a person without substance. That the only thing there is to her is a skin condition that she is trying hard to get people to understand and accept.
"I personally think Zoey Seboe shouldnt have been selected as a finalist because now judges are gonna feel sorry for her and make her win even if there are more deserving candidates. It's called a beauty contest for a reason it's not a stereotype breaking platform👏🙆" zizipho_hlebani
"Do you know how much of a game changer it would be if Miss Sa would be won by Zoey Seboe? Especially to little girls living with certain skin conditions. Definitely rooting for her." MpumeM_
Thoughts? Is it fair to reduce her presence to being due to her skin condition?
