People making History
Lehlogonolo Machaba has made it to the top 30 of Miss SA 2021 making her the first transgender woman to reach this stage. Machaba is from Oskraal in the North West and works as a model booker at Invade Models. She is a graduate of Tswane University, she begged a diploma in Fashion design technology from the institution.

Her mother is her source of inspiration who works at a public hospital as a social worker. She is also a survivor of gender-based violence

Machaba said that transgender women are not really appreciated with some sections of society see them as just dudes in a women's dress. She said it's her dream to represent her community and raise awareness of the ever-increasing attacks on trans and queer people in South Africa.

Gauteng leads the pack this year with 12 contenders, while North West and Limpopo each have one entrant then Western Cape with 7 and KZN with 4. Eastern Cape is represented by three models and Free State by two.
