The elephant is the largest mammal that exists on land. They have very long trunks, large ears, massive legs and tough skin. There are three living species of elephants that exist in South Africa. They are, the South Africa bush elephant, the african forest elephant and the asian elephant.

Elephants use there trunks to breathe, for bringing food and water into their mouths and for grasping objects.

People enjoy going to game reserves to visit elephants and sometimes forget that they can be very dangerous. They have the power to trample a human to death and cause plenty of damage to cars. Always keep a safe distance from them.
