#KeepHumble and meet Afika Mbityana a Model Who Has Turned Failure as Weapon to Grow

Afika is a first year student at Walter Sisulu University currently studying Information Technology, and she believes that IT allows her to take her career in different directions, meaning she can become a computer developer, business analyst and a web developer all in one go with the versatility that IT offers.

Afika discovered her passion for modelling back in 2018 when she entered for Miss Randmark, a local competition and became 2nd Princess. That is the moment where she told herself that she is quite good at this. This is only a beginning of greater things for her.

In 2019 she entered for Miss Willowwave, Miss Butterworth and Miss Youth and unfortunately did not win either one, those where the competitions that showed that modelling is not for the faint hearted and taught her not to give up but take every opportunity as a step closer to your dreams whether you win or lose there is always a lesson behind everything you do in life.

Later in 2019 when she regained her strength she entered for Miss Wild Coast and became the semi-finalist. She realized that modelling has a positive impact on her life, there are people who want to try what she is doing but do not know where to start. She explains that, “modelling has opened a lot of opportunities for her”, now she is a brand ambassador of a local brand; Naija Kotin.

Ever since she started her journey she became more of a positive person, as sometimes she gets disappointed for not winning a competition but has learnt to learn from that and grow as an individual. She plans to enter for more competitions, she is very open to any opportunities that the future may hold. She also plans to feature in a music video of a local artist. Plan to train girls who aspire to model in her community as a way of giving back to her community.
