Meet a Zimbabwean woman who played Tupac's mother in a movie

Tupac Shakur is one of the greatest rapper of all the time. He is revered as the West Coast rap legends. Though he is not from the West Coast but was born in New York in the East Coast. He came to Marin City outside Oakland in California when he was like 15 years and it was there where he started to take his talent serious. He hanged around other aspiring rappers from Oakland area until a rap group from Oakland gave him a break as their dancer.

The story of Tupac was turned into a movie called "All Eyes On Me" and a luck Zimbabwean woman got that opportunity to play the role of the legendary rapper's mother, Afeni Shakur. Danai Jekesai Gurira was born in 1978 in the state of Iowa in United States of America. Her mother was college librarian, and father, a tenured professor in the Department of Chemistry at Grinnell College in Iowa. Her parents came to the United States in 1964 and she is the youngest of the 4 siblings. In 1983, the family moved back to Zimbabwe where she did her primary and high school. She moved to the States where she did her tertiary. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in psychology at Macalester College[3] in Saint Paul, Minnesota. She went in to do earned her a Master of Fine Arts in acting from New York University's Tisch School of the Arts. She is a playwright as well. Together with another Africa Lupito N'yongo in Black Panther.
