Entertainment industry is faced with yet another disappointment as a popular soap get cancelled.

It is becoming a norm in South Africa to have soaps coming to an end just like that. We saw it happening in the past years when SABC 3 cancelled Isidingo which had aired many years on TV.

While viewers were still licking their wounds on that, they again learnt that another soap in Mzansi Magic, Isibaya is getting cancelled. Again that shocked viewers considering how well Isibaya was getting viewers and had an interesting story. Its end was not expected at all.

Again it continued as in June this year, e TV soap that had aired for about 14 years came to an end.

On July 16, it aired the last episode as it made way for the new soap, House of Zwide.

Now, Mzansi Celebrity News has learnt that another soap had to come to an end.

M-Net (DStv Channel 101) has announced that after a two- year run of its local telenovela Legacy, the channel will be exploring new avenues to entertain its loyal viewers in order to cater their new and evolving desire for limite series.

The shooting of this soap will be concluded in February 2022, however, viewers will continue to enjoy the show on their screens until September 2022.

“Our viewership surveys guide us to adapt our content to the evolving needs of our customers. Whilst Legacy is a popular show, our M-Net 101 customers have indicated that they now want more limited series rather than long-running telenovelas. The success of our local strategy depends on how well we tune into what our customers would like to see on their screens,” says Nomsa Philiso, Executive Head: Programming, MultiChoice Group.

She further added that M-Net and Tshedza productions which produces the soap, are aligned on the change in strategic direction and will be managing the impact on cast and crew.

The legacy is produced by the same company which produces The River on 1 Magic, Tshedza productions.

In its half year results on 11 November, Multichoice reported that it added 2 692 hours to its local content library, which is now approaching 66 0000 hours.
