Ithana, one of the top ten contestants, has withdrawn from Idols SA.

Ithana, a top 10 participant on Idols SA and Miss Soweto runner-up, has abruptly left season 17 of the reality competition show.

As the top 10 live performances began today, the 22-year-old wannabe singer was anticipated to join Berry, Daylin Sass, Sia Mzizi, Karabo, S'22kile, Monique, Kevin, Bulelani, and Nqobie.

However, the show stated in a brief statement this evening that she had withdrawn from the competition due to "medical concerns."

“On behalf of M-net, we wish her a quick recovery. It's awful that she won't be able to compete any longer, but her health comes first. I'm sure this isn't the last time South Africans see her on television,” said Nomsa Philiso, M-local net's channels entertainment director.

Philiso stated that voting for tonight's episode will go on as scheduled.

Ithana told Sowetan that making the top 16 a few weeks ago was a dream come true.

“Making the top 16 is a dream come true for me. Every day when I wake up, I must pinch myself to make sure it's true. “It feels like I'm outside of my body,” Ithana explained.

“So far in the competition, I've learned that being a great performer necessitates a great deal of discipline. I've also discovered that my voice has a unique quality to it. In addition, the most important lesson I've learned is to value myself more and to remember that I'm good enough and better.”
