Media personality and entrepreneur Gareth Cliff has just lost a major sponsor in Nandos. In a press release, Nandos has distance it's self with Gareth Cliff Following the backlash regarding Gareth Cliff’s utterances around racism. The statement reads as follows; “ There are many instances in which Nandos has not agreed with the opinion of both guests and presenters on Cliff Central, but we have upheld their right to express those views as a core component. Gareth Cliff failed to create an environment where free speech was possible by talking over Mudzuli Rakhivhane and dismissing her view whilst not allowing her to adequately express it.” I understand Nandos stance and the decision they took, however is cancelled culture the way to go nowadays? Shouldn't such matters go through a disciplinary hearing of sort?
