Kabza De Small of Amapiano takes home the most SAMA27 nominations.

Kabza De Small, the Amapiano singer, received six nominations at the 27th South African Music Awards (SAMAs), which were revealed on Wednesday. on

Album of the Year, Male Artist of the Year, and Best Amapiano Album were all nominated for his album I Am the King of Amapiano: Sweet & Dust. His collaboration with DJ Maphorisa (Scorpion Kings), Once Upon A Time in Lockdown, was also nominated for Duo / Group of the Year, Album of the Year, and Best Amapiano Album, taking his total to six nominations.

Sun-El Musician, a KwaZulu-Natal sensation and music producer, earned five nominations. Sanele Sithole, who was born in South Africa and released his second album To the World and Beyond last year, is up for Male Artist of the Year, Best Dance, Best Live Audio Visual of the Year, Best Produced Album of the Year, and Remix of the Year.

Bucy Radebe won four nominations for Spiritual Encounter, including Sofnfree Female Artist of the Year, White Star Newcomer of the Year, Best Traditional Faith Music Album, and Best Live AudioVisual Recording of the Year. 

“We are pleased with the calibre of candidates for SAMA27,” said RiSA chief executive Nhlanhla Sibisi.

This is a representation of the music industry and the people who made an impact in 2020/21, a tough time when the industry had to deal with a devastating global pandemic.

Bongo Riot, a reggae vocalist, earned three nominations for Album of the Year, Male Artist of the Year, and Best Reggae Album. Nomcebo Zikode was nominated for two awards: best dance album and best female artist of the year. Boity Thulo and Babes Wodumo were among those who received nominations.
