The Entertainment Industry Failed to Recognise and Honor Shai

Here are the words of a man crying for South Africa to honor him.

“Before I die I want to make sure that I’ve beat you so that on my tombstone they can write this is the man who beat Caster or Costa or whatever your sh*t name is … Come you son of a b*tch,” Patrick said. How can an activist insult Cassper's mother like that, if he was really fighting for the rights of women?

These are clearly the words of a man desperately looking for recognition. Those who worked with veteran actor, director and activist Ntate Patrick Shai can testify what a humbled man he was. Unfortunately the system did not recognize him, and the man was not recognized or honored for his work, and somehow the actor became desperate to be recognized hence he picked on Cassper, as he thought he was given too much attention.

Unfortunately Shai committed suicide yesterday at his home in Soweto. Details as to why he decided to take his own life have not yet been revealed. However, many chose to believe his sudden death has to do with the tiff he had with Cassper Nyovest.

The star who was well known for his roles on Sepedi drama Bophelo ke Semphekgo, Generation, 7de Laan, Skeem Saam and The River was a veteran, but he was not honored by the entertainment industry. He fought for the rights of women and was always against gender based violence.

Despite the video and the tiff with Cassper, the man of Shai 's status deserved better, may his soul rest in peace.
