Skeem Saam was introduced to South Africans in 2011, since then it have been one of the most watched television show especially by Sotho speakers. It was an idea of Winnie Serite. It have since produced amazing talents. Mpho Mashabela is one of the people that are entertaining viewers on Skeem Saam. He joined Skeem Saam on 2018. He play the role of Setati, a client of motor mechanic Big Boy Mabitsela, played by the late Charles Maja.
Mpho told the publication that he was inspired by the former DA leader Mmusi Maimane.
“I’m contesting ward 12 in Mahwelereng. I was nominated by friends who felt I could represent this ward as I understood its challenges. I was also motivated by One South Africa Movement leader Mmusi Maimane as he’s been supporting local leaders to contest elections independently,”
Though Mpho is more of a gospel artist. He was given the chance to be on Skeem Saam by legendary Paul Mahuma Rapetsoa.
Mpho Mashabela, is not new to politics, he is Limpopo Artist Movement's chairman.
