We know her as Hlelo from the number 1 soapie in South Africa, SABC 1's Uzalo. Her real name is Nothando Ngcobo born in Hammarsdale in Mpumalanga on 1 November 1994. She then moved to Johannesburg to study acting and she did her training in Market Theater until 2017.
So far, Nothando Ngcobo has played two characters, the ones she is currently playing on Uzalo as Hlelo and Prudence Thabethe on One Magic’s Lingashoni. Hlelo is very troubled person who came from living a difficult life of domestic abuse. She was saved by Gabisile(Baby Cele) and moved her to a better life in KwaMashu. As she begins her new life, Hlelo faces some difficulties moving forward and her pregnancy makes it all very difficult for her.
Obviously Nothando and Hlelo are very different people. Nothando is a hard working 26 year old, she never gives up on her acting career even though she was rejected many times in the industry. She was rejected by one of the most watched soapies in South Africa, SABC 1's Generations The Legacy. Ngcobo auditioned for Generations The Legacy for the role of Nontle Majola who is the daughter of Ayanda Majola and Tau Mogale but the role was given to Buntu Petse. Fortunately, this did not bring her down, she kept on trying and got her role as Hlelo on Uzalo. She managed to over the rejections through praying and believing. Read what she had to say about her rejection in the acting industry below:
