Former Minister calls for fired presenter from SABC to return

By Nhlanhla Maseko

The listeners including those who once worked as certain ministers and musicians are not willing to accept that Robert Marawa is no longer part of the South African Broadcasting Commission (SABC).

Robert Marawa is a South African media personality known for recently having bagged new roles on Vuma FM and Rise FM. That came after Marawa was fired through a text message as a sports presenter under SABC. Robert is popular known as one of the best sports anchors or presenters. He is again known from having been a presenter for a sports live show on SABC called Laduma and Soccer Zone.

Many people are not happy about him being fired from SABC. Former finance minister being Tito Mboweni is one of them including musicians such as Mzwakhe Mbuli and is the latest to call for his return. He took to social media speaking about what is missing without him and calling for his return.

"Radio 2000 is one of the good SABC radio stations. Great line up. Always listening on my home drive to Makgobaskloof. But poor on commercial advertising income. What happened to the great Robert Marawa sports show.I missed something. Let him return, i demand. Petition time.

It is good to see that Robert Marawa did a great job that even today months after he was fired, people are still calling for his return. However, Marawa has played his part and done well for himself, it's time for him to create a name for himself somewhere else whereby he is currently. Listeners including everyone who has been calling for his return must just accept that he has moved on, he is somewhere else and continue listening to him where he is.The good thing is that even though he is no longer on SABC, he is still on radio to inform, educate and entertain listeners. Therefore, listeners can still listen to him.
