Do some South African Influencers have identity crises?

What does it mean to be a social media influencer? According to the dictionary, A Social Media Influencer is a user on social media who has established credibility in a specific industry. A social media influencer has access to a large audience and can persuade others by virtue of their authenticity and reach.

But time and again we have seen our so-called influencers jumping from one gig to another commenting on anything on every topic. Go to politics threads, they are there, talk about deep medical topics like covid, all of a sudden they are now "doctors"

Do South Africans influencers have an Identity crisis or it's the I know it all mentality that they have? Now the actress Simz Ngema claims she can sing. He wrote on her Instagram page:

Proud to announce that my first international feature is finally out. Dream big and work on your dreams, soon the vision will come together. @iam_danlu is the biggest artist in Malawi right now and to be featured on his new album is a dream come true. GameChanger is out now! On all digital platforms! Dear Quing Simz, Africa knows you! ❤️🥺 it can only be God.

To be clear there is nothing wrong with trying a new career but far too often and far too many times we have seen our celebs jumping from being influencers, YouTubers, DJs, makeup artists, talk show hosts etcetera, all in one person.
