Sad|| A well known actor fired a prop gun and accidentally killed a cinematographer

A cinematographer was killed and a director was wounded on a movie set in New Mexico on Thursday when actor, Alec Baldwin fired a prop gun.

Dante Fe County Sheriff's office said in a statement that the incident took place on the set of an independent film 'Rust' which was being filmed at the Bonanza Creek Ranch.

Police said in a statement: "The sheriff's office confirms that two individuals were shot on the set of Rust. Galina Hutchins, 42, director of photography, and Joel Souza, 48, director, were shot when a prop firearm was discharged by Alec Baldwin, 68, producer and actor."

Authorities said that Hutchins was airlifted to the University of New Mexico his where she was pronounced dead. While Souza was transported by ambulance to Christus St. Vincent Regional Medical Centre where he is undergoing treatment for his injuries.

Police are investigating the matter and interviewing witnesses. Foul play is not suspected and no charges have been filed as yet.
