The duo recently switched sounds following the exit of numerous artists from parent label, Ambitious Entertainment and have since been making waves through hits like "Price to Pay" and "Umlilo".
MTV Base Africa released their 2020 Hottest New Wave list and surprisingly, Blaq Diamond came on top as they were listed at number on the new wave list. Twitter reacted as fans were once again divided by music:
Below is the official MTV Hottest New Wave List:
However and as always, fans came in and gave their opinion on the list with some weighing in that their favorites deserved to be on the list and in different positions.
While most people argued the list, some gave it to the Duo as they praised their music and versatility in the industry which earned them a massive increase in followers on social media platforms around the African continent.
It is undeniably true that the Duo are gifted and make great music. Switching from their traditional Maskhandi/Afro-Pop sound to Hip Hop's new wave and then leading it is something that is rare and nearly impossible.
However talent cannot be diluted or overlooked for as long as it shines. Congratulations to the Duo for their efforts and recognition by MTV Base and the New Wave.
