Cassper Nyovest, a local rapper, believes the planned "Yanos Rountable" is unnecessary.
MTV Base announced last week that their latest round table special, "Yanos Roundtable," will commemorate amapiano's biggest talents of 2021 as well as the top 10 tracks that made everyone go crazy.
Tshego Koke will host the two-part program, which will feature a panel of the industry's best.
"Hottest MCs" has spawned the "Yanos Roundtable.
The panel will join Tshego in choosing which amapiano hit was the hottest of 2021, similar to the hyped-up list.
A preview for the TV special was released earlier this week, but the "Destiny" rapper isn't impressed.
Cassper took to Twitter to express his displeasure with amapiano following in the footsteps of hip hop in South Africa, calling the TV special "unnecessary."
"This one isn't required." It's a waste of time to build a rumor that Yanos doesn't need. One of the factors that contributed to the demise of South African hip hop.
"Leave the Yanos alone to blossom into their true selves, full of love and joy." There will be no gatekeepers or tastemakers!!! "It's all about the music and the rhythm.
The previous year. On the social media network TikTok, amapiano sounds has received 1.6 billion views, proving its longevity.
The local genre became the most popular music hashtag in South Africa in 2021, according to data revealed by the popular short-form video platform, TikTok, which had more than 1 billion active users globally at the time.
Some of the most popular performers included Cassper, DJ Maphorisa, Tyler ICU, Boohle, and DJ Sumbody.
On Thursday, January 27 and Friday, January 28, at 5.30 p.m., 'Yanos Roundtable' premieres exclusively on MTV Base (DStv channel 322)
