I was very disappointed and not surprised when I see the latest listenership statistics for 2021 for radio stations in South Africa and Umhlobo Wenene FM dropped their listenership with One Million . It is a disgrace a huge and old radio station dropped with so many listeners , what really went wrong ? .
The radio station really need a revamp . The radio station have so many competition inside eastern cape where there is community radio stations that are doing a wonderful job . Inkonjane FM , Umthatha Community Radio , Nzo FM , Lathitha FM and many more they playing a big role in the province to Xhosa speakers . Umhlobo Wenene FM must stop to relax and do a revamp , the radio station is still doing the old radio . The station needs fresh blood , presenters from the community radio stations and make the radio station exciting and youthful , it really time for change .
The radio station news team is 100% perfect , they always on point and deliver fresh news and the presenters of the news bulletins and current affair they doing the wonderful job .
The radio station needs to fix the on Air jingles , station identities , bring new voice overs , new music is also very scarce within the radio station , they need to have a fresh new music compiler for the station .
After 4 months moved to Radio 2000 , I came back to Umhlobo Wenene FM Breakfast show called "BEE" , the reason I came back is to check why the radio station numbers dropped so much . I am honestly not surprised the show really need a revamp , I think they are taking lot of time making jokes instead of giving us the information that is needed in the morning , to be honest I listened to the show from 7:00am to 8am and I failed to finish it , I went back to Radio 2000. I tried the show the following day , I didn't find any difference and I just saw how they lost their loyal listeners .
