“They shot and killed my son” – groom

“They shot and killed my son” – groom

Their wedding memories will forever be haunted by death and bloodshed.

The groom Prince Maliaga lost his son, Philani Dlamini, and other guests in the shooting.

Speaking to Reporters, Prince said: “It is my wedding day but it is also the day where gunmen came and destroyed our joy.”

Prince’s daughter Thato Selote explained what happened on the night of horror.

“The men ran out of the house next door, shooting as they came to us,” she said.

“I was sitting in the car with my husband and my brother. They shot my brother dead and they shot my husband too.”

She said while rushing her husband to the Leratong hospital her husband waved his hand to show that he could hear her.

She said she is praying now for her husband’s survival.

“I went to the hospital this morning, but doctors wouldn’t allow me to go see him. I am devastated. I’m afraid of what will happen to my husband,” she said.

A neighbour at the wedding who survived the shooting told Scrollla.Africa that when he heard the bullets flying, he pretended to be hurt by lying down flat.

“One of the men even stepped on my legs as he was leaving and running from the scene. Lying down, I prayed that I should be spared,” he said.

“I’m happy that I wasn’t injured, but my heart goes out to those who have been injured and to families who have lost their relatives in this horrible manner.”

Police have confirmed the incident and are appealing to the people with information to come forward and help them to bring the suspects to book.
