Shimza is publicly chastised by DJ Maphorisa for refusing to open the music industry to other musicians and for failing to credit persons with whom he collaborates on tracks.
"Why you constantly make music alone, no young up and coming nyana everytime Shimza's alone," Lawd Phori bluntly asked in response to Shimza's Facebook post. Please, grow this afro movement and encourage fresh talent. That's why they despise us because you shut doors. Don't tell me you made that beat by yourself; I'm sorry, but I had to expose my chest in front of everyone; I love you, Mfanaka, but I'm sorry, but I can't!"
In response, the Afrotech DJ stated that his record company, Kunye Record, is dedicated to assisting other artists, which is why he hosts an event called Kunye at which other artists may showcase their talents.
He went on to explain himself by claiming that they both work in distinct ways.
"I'm sure you understand what I'm talking about. The ghost producers to whom you pay a one-time charge. This has to come to an end. You must credit them in your song and allow them to shine," Maphorisa continued.
Phori asked Shimza to adjust the game since he understands how it feels to be left out of a song or project as a producer.
