Meet South African Celebrities Who Have Vanished From The Limelight

The worst feeling in the world is to be forgotten after a few chart-topping singles.

Some local celebrities have failed to return, while others have succumbed to the industry's pressure and competitiveness.

Although South Africa's entertainment business is small, there are many new faces emerging today. So it can't accommodate all performances.

Some celebrities are walking away from the spotlight to focus on non-profit work and other interests.

Zinhle Mabena

Her roles include Tshireletso on eKasi: Our Stories and Sphesihle on Intersexions. Her husband, Robert Ngwenya, had a baby. Mabena took a leave to raise her child and care for her family.

Florence Mokgatsi

Florence Mokgatsi's character on Isibaya was written off the show in 2019.

Her other well-known role is Tshidi in the SABC1 children's program Soul Buddyz. She had a tiny role in Nomzamo on SABC1. She married her longtime lover James Segal in 2017. She had to leave show business since they had a gorgeous child.

Kagiso Rakosa

Sharon, a character in the SABC1 soap opera Generations, is one of Kagiso Rakosa's most famous. In the eKasi+ detective drama Traffic, she played Lungi Mlaba, Bonnie Mbuli's sister (also played by Andiswa Mlaba). She was set to return in 2015 after leaving Generations a few years earlier. But her fans are still waiting for her return.
