The statement issued by Royal AM owner Shaun Mkhize in response to the allegations brought against her and her family is disappointing, and she should have given it more thought before issuing it.
Sithelo Shozi claims that Mamkhize's son, Andile Mpisane, abused her when they were still together. She said that the assault occurred in his family's presence at times and that they did nothing to stop it. She said all of this on her Instagram account, and she later deleted the posts. It's unclear what prompted her to delete the posts and photos allegedly depicting her abuse, but the incident got people talking, and Mamkhize decided to reply to the charges.
Mamkhize made a statement stating that his legal team would handle the matter.
She may have decided not to make a statement about the issue and instead take it to court; this could have been fine because sometimes making a statement worsens the situation. Now it appears that she is protecting and defending her son, which will lead people to believe that she is spoiling him and that this is why he does bad things because he knows his mother will be there to clean up the mess.
Saying the claims are false and defamatory gives the impression that she is in denial or that she will go to any length to defend her son, no matter how badly he messes up. He may have abused Sithelo while she was away, therefore declaring the claims are fake is incredibly sad and inconsiderate of her.
