Govt Has Done Nothing For Igbos; Nollywood Actor, Chiwetalu Agu Claims: How True Is This Statement?

Chiwetalu Agu, a Nollywood actor, has backed the call for Nigeria to split in order for peace to reign. This was stated by Chiwetalu Agu while speaking with Broadway Tv.

Remember how the actor was detained by soldiers in Onitsha, Anambra State, for wearing Biafra regalia? He was then transferred to DSS custody in Abuja, where he remained for several days before being released.

When asked if he supports Nigeria's secession, Chiwetalu Agu responded, "We all must rise, I preached that everyone should rise from their position wherever they are with my costume."

"My costume was the rising sun, not Biafra; Ojukwu popularized the rising sun as a symbol for Igbos who like to progress." When you look at Africa, Igbos are at the top due to their efforts, not those of the government.

"The government has done nothing for the Igbo man; they are attempting to do better on their own." The sooner we split as a country, the better. Fulani 'Buhari' people account for 98 per cent of the workforce. Nothing has been placed on the Igbo man.

"Benue is in shambles; people are being killed there, but they want Fulani herdsmen to continue doing their business."

"It's draconian; you can't force people in such a large country." To achieve a peaceful approach in this country, we need to rally our people from the same tribe."

Chiwetalu Agu clarified his arrest, saying he was not tortured while being questioned by senior army officers before being transferred to DSS custody.

"They interviewed me for an entire day, the senior army officers were civil, and they did not obtain anything incriminating from my phone before handing me over to DSS."

"They did not mistreat me until I arrived at the Abuja office, where I stayed for two days." I'm a child of God, I'm not a criminal," he said, adding that "all they saw in my phone was all about God, humanity, and nothing incriminating."

The statement made by Chiwetalu Agu is a big one and needs to be analysed in-depth. The IPOB group got declared as terrorists as a result of their agitation for a referendum of the Biafra Republic. Should the decision of the Nigerian government depriving IPOB of their demand be a genuine reason to say Nigeria hasn't been fair to the Igbos?
