Viewers saw him grow from an adolescent living in Turfloop with well-off parents to a full-fledged adult. He became a teen parent, went to university, got his first job, married his high school love, and had viewers eating out of his hands in the way. He basically grew up in front of us. "I just started taking the arts seriously when I was in grade 10, and it was primarily theatrical work and artistic activities like dancing, acting, and poetry." When we were exposed to stage theater performance, I realized it was my love. When I went to my first TV audition, I was cast as Tbose on Skeem Saam. [It was] when I couldn't continue my studies at Wits University due to budgetary constraints. It came with a lot, and I was young and had no clue what television was. I had the opportunity to work with some of the finest actors in the industry.”
Cornet enrolled for a BA in Dramatic Arts at the University of the Witwatersrand but was unable to complete his degree. However, this did not deter him from pursuing a career in the arts, and he expresses gratitude for the chances that have come his way subsequently. He currently operates Digni Financial Services, an insurance firm that provides funeral plans, employee benefits, and underwriting. When he is not working, he likes being a father to two lovely daughters, Omphile and Lesedi, and he believes that parenthood has been a journey and the most important role he has ever had.
