Nokubonga is an outgoing person and a outspoken woman. She was born and raised in Umlazi, KwaZulu-Natal and she was born 5 minutes apart from her twin sister.
After she finished school at Umlazi Comtech, she didn't know what she wanted to do so she enrolled at Coastal KwaZulu-Natal TVET College, a technical school that focuses on commerce.
To help their widowed mother, she and her twin sister helped their mother raise 5 girls. The actress twin sister worked as a wsitess in Durban, while she worked at a call center in Mount Edgecombe.
They quit their jobs and opened a salon at home so that they can focus on their acting career. The twins discovered their calling in 2003, when they participated in a play.
They both love traveling and have travelled the world as part of the Lion King.
