Gugu Gumede, an Uzalo actor, is expecting her first child.
The actress revealed the good news with her 1.1 million Instagram followers in a lengthy message.
"For this kid I prayed," she wrote, "and the Lord hath given me my prayer which I sought of him," she began the news with a Bible passage.
Gugu, who portrays Mlambo on the SABC soap, said in the post about how her unborn child gave her strength after her mother, National Freedom Party leader Zanele kaMagwaza-msibi, died in September 2021.
"When people ask me where I got the strength to keep going after my mother died, I tell them it came from my unborn kid. As I stood at the podium at her funeral and spoke on her behalf, I wasn't alone in advocating for my queen. Inside of me, the strongest heart was beating, rejuvenating me. "I am alive today as a result of that," she wrote.
