5 things you did not know about “Mary” from Diep City

Diep City has been doing nothing but entertaining us and introducing us to talent that we never knew existed in South Africa!

One of the actors to stand out with their impeccable acting skills is Moshine Mametja who plays the role of the nosy and hilarious Mary on the show. Below are a few interesting facts that you definitely need to know about this talented beauty!

Can you guess her age?

27 years ago, on the 18th October 1994, the star was born in The Oaks Ga-Sekororo, in the Limpopo Province. However, she was raised in Phalaborwa and grew up to be fluent in English, IsiZulu, Sepedi and Xitsonga.

She is quite academic too

Moshine attended Hoerskool Frans du Toi and went on to further her studies at Tshwane University of Technology Art Campus. Before obtaining her National Diploma in Drama, the talented thespian had to drop out whilst studying Auditing to pursue her dream of being an entertainer. Her parents did not consent and her mother questioned how she would make a living in an odd career like that, but Moshine worked hard, graduated and managed to secure a good living out of it!

“Drama is my calling and gift, I had to go through a lot of finding and self-journey to do what I love”, she revealed.

She is more than just an actress!

Although all she does is wear the same old and baggy clothes on Diep City whilst serving meat to the men of Sloot, in real life she is a real beauty who has thrived as a model. She has obtained the 2nd Princess prize in the Miss Maruleng competition and has also been crowned 1st Princess of the Miss Oaks pageant.

Recently, Moshine announced that she has entered Miss South Africa 2021 competition.
