Dloz'lami: Ancestors warn their rude child to respect her grandmother before its too late

This week on Dloz'lami we met Ntombi, an orphan who had been asking questions about the way her parents died and feeling stagnant like all the other guests on the show.

However the answer to her questions and problem were quite simple. R-E-S-P-E-C-T.

I believe it was Aretha Franklin who sang about the concept of respect and it remains true until this day. Ntombi discovered this the hard way but her own actions were holding her back in life. Her grandfather came to the forefront and berated her over not treating his wife right. He claimed his wife was heartbroken about Ntombi and her actions, to the point of her heart holding a terrible grudge against her.

Her grandfather corrected her firstly on trying to take her fathers name. I think we all know by now that incomplete marriages are not respected by ancestors. He pointed out that she would bring unnecessary curses if she embraced her fathers surname since he hadn't done right by him.

Grandpa then prompted Ntombi to unveil a a dictionary and read the words, "disrespect" and "respect". He pointed out that he knew she was educated but that didn't mean she could act anyway kind of way that she wanted. She had to heal her relationship with her grandmother first if she ever wanted to succeed in life and find a job.

Personal Thoughts

I was today-years-old when I learned that witchcraft doesn't always have to be involved when you feel stagnancy in your life. That simply disrespecting your elders can cause you that much grief. Of course I was taught to always be respectful but I didn't know that not doing so can result in curses. It should be a given anyway but in today's world it is easy to forget the fundamentals. Respecting people can take you far, not doing so can result in your life worsening.

I hope Ntombi is able to set things right with her grandmother before it's too late.
