Barry Steenkamp, Reeva's father, and Pistorius had a conversation on June 22, 2022, according to Tania Koen, the Steenkamp family's attorney.

For the conversation, Pistorius was moved to a prison in Gqeberha, Eastern Cape.

"We have nothing else to say. We ask that the privacy of our clients be maintained as this conversation is private and confidential "said Koen.

On February 14, 2014, Pistorius fatally shot his girlfriend, Reeva, many times.

Following the VOD, Pistorius was returned to the Atteridgeville jail prison, according to the department of correctional services on Friday.

According to department spokeswoman Singabakho Nxumalo, "it is important to emphasize that offenders are forced to participate in the VOD as part of their rehabilitation journey, wherein they are allowed to accept the harm they have caused to their victims and the larger society at large."

Participating in the VOD "does not correspond to an end of the sentence or a placement on parole," the agency claims.

According to News24, the Supreme Court of Appeal (SCA) last year amended its decision regarding Pistorius' sentence for a second time, antedating the 13 years and five months it had imposed on him to October 21, 2014, the day he was initially sentenced for culpable homicide by Judge Thokozile Masipa. This triggered the beginning of Pistorius' parole process.

The SCA previously changed the sentence after it became clear that the verdict did not account for the 506 days Pistorius had already served for killing Steenkamp.

The 35-year-old was, therefore, according to Pistorius' legal team, qualified for parole in February of last year after he had served half of his sentence.

At the time, Pistorius' attorney, Julian Knight, stated, "The relief that we would be asking would be that a parole hearing is convened to examine his [Pistorius'] placement on parole."
