The traditional prime minister of the Zulu monarchy Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi has explained the delays in the coronation of King Misuzulu. Besides the official coronation, the Zulu King is already performing his duties as the King of amaZulu. His coronation was supposed to take place on the 28th of May. The first reason for the delay was the deadly KwaZulu-Natal floods that left over 400 people dead and many more without homes.
Seeing the loss of the Zulu nation and also the royal family, the King saw it proper not to host such a ceremony while the nation was in mourning. The traditional prime minister explained these delays at KwaKhangelamankengane Palace in Nongoma on Sunday after the ritual hunt ceremony was performed. The next thing to take place is the cleansing of the King and his five siblings here in SA and also in Eswatini where their mother the late Queen Mantfombi Dlamini Zulu comes from. As long as these ceremonies are not performed the coronation of the King cannot officially take place. The King had gone to Eswatini for more rituals which he had to attend to, and he still needs to return with his siblings for other rituals.
He explained that he had to clarify these delays as the media pressured him about the date as they had in their possession a date that was circulating. He told the media that he just received a letter from the King who has liaised with President Cyril Ramaphosa where they talked about venues and dates. He highlighted these delays as the reason why the coronation has not taken place. The date that has been circulating is the thirteenth of August though it has not been finalized yet as all parties involved must proclaim.
