In a Father's Day edition of Red Table Talk that aired on Sunday, June 20, the 41-year-old Fatherhood star spoke with guest presenter Will Smith. Jada Pinkett Smith, Willow Smith, and Adrienne Banfield-Norris usually host the show.
During the interview, Kevin discussed how he dealt with his 2017 cheating scandal and how he presented the incident to his now-16-year-old daughter Heaven. Ex-wife Torrei Hart shares Heaven and 13-year-old son Hendrix with the father of four, who married Eniko Parrish in August 2016.
"You know, when I and my wife [Eniko] went through what we went through and the whole cheating exhibition," Kevin added, "my discussion with Heaven—goddamn." "That was a one-of-a-kind."
He went on to say, "Getting my daughter back, and getting her to understand that I was sorry and that I had made a mistake, was a genuine achievement. To comprehend, for example, that I am still my father. You're consuming information. Isn't this a youngster? The Internet is available to every child. There is nothing you will come across or read that will leave an indelible impression on you. Is it a child? There's a reason for everything."
Kevin apologized publicly to his then-pregnant wife Eniko on Instagram in September 2017 for his actions "I'm sending so many apologies to my wife and kids for making such a horrible decision," he continued. I know I can and will do better."
Kevin also discussed the circumstances surrounding his revealed homophobic comments with Heaven on Red Table Talk, which led to him stepping down as host of the 2019 Oscars ceremony.
