Willow Smith is an actress, singer, and dancer from the United States. Smith made her acting debut in her father Will Smith's mega successful film 'I Am Legend' when she was just seven years old. She was rewarded with a 'Young Artist Award' for her performance in the 2008 comedy-drama film 'Kit Kittredge: An American Girl,' for which she received a nomination. Smith startled her fans and family by breaking into the music world with her single 'Whip My Hair,' just as her acting career was taking off. The song went on to become a smash hit, charting in a number of countries including the United States and the United Kingdom. She then went on to sign to Jay-'Roc Z's Nation' record company and establish herself as a singer-songwriter, becoming the youngest person to do so.
In 2015, she released her debut studio album ‘Ardipithecus’ through ‘Roc Nation.’ Interestingly, Smith’s musical skills have surprised her family more than anyone else! Her mother Jada Pinkett Smith has been quoted saying “I don't know where that voice came from. She sings like she's a grown woman. I have no idea, but she's something. Music is her thing.”
The daughter of Will Smith and Jada Pinkett-Smith, Willow Smith expanded her scope from childhood actor to genre-spanning recording artist within a decade.
As a singer/songwriter, she debuted with the viral 2010 hit pop single "Whip My Hair" before maturing her sound to include alt-R&B textures with her full-length debut, Ardipithecus, which she also produced. By the time her 2017 sophomore album arrived, her sound had evolved to include pastoral acoustic textures on her organic The 1st. Along the way, she was a frequent collaborator with brother Jaden, as well as Tyler Cole (as the duo the Anxiety) and Jahnavi Harrison (for 2020's R I S E). In addition to film and music, she is also a fashion figure, social rights advocate, and television personality, starring alongside her mother and grandmother on the family talk show Red Table Talk.
