Many South Africans were left heart broken after the death of their Media and Screen heroes this year. The following is a list of some of the celebrities who tragedically passed away.
The actor was born on the 16 February 1985 and he was diagnosed with brain cancer stage 4 in the year 2019. He met his untimely death on 21/June/2021. He most well known for his roles in Zone 14, Muvhango and Ring of Lies. His departure in the acting industry will surely be missed.
The talented actress was born on the 8th January 1977 and died on the 11th January 2021 in her sleep, the cause of death has not been confirmed. The talented actress is well known for her roles in Little One, Uzalo, Safari, Lockdown, Ehostela, EGoli and Scandal amongst other memorable roles. Her talent was raw and touched millions of South Africans.
Menzi Ngubane was born on the 4th September 1964. The talented actor has been battling Kidney failure for a very long time. The actor died on the 13th of March 2021 from Stroke. His father died days after him and a joint burial was held for him and his father. His memorable roles were on Generations, How to steal 2 million, Yizo Yizo, Ashes to Ashes etc.
4. Shona Ferguson
Shona ferguson was born on the 30th/April/1972 . This came as a shock to millions of south Africans. He died at Milpark Hospital due to covid-19 complications. He was a well known actor , director and producer and he owned a film production company with his wife Connie Ferguson. This is a huge loss to the film industry. Indeed Death be Not proud. He acted in Kings of joburg , Muvhango etc. We shall forever miss his creativeness and forever appreciate his role in changing the South African film industry.
5. Tsepo Tshola
Tsepo Tshola was born on 18th August 1953. The musician died due to related covid-19 complications. His albums includes, The village pope, Lesedi, A new Dawn amongst others. He contributed highly to the music industry with his unique sound.
6. Noxolo Maqashalala
The talented actresss was born in 1977. She was found in her home in Honeydew and it was reported that Maqashalala had been dead for a week. She died from natural causes. The talented actress had played memorable roles on SABC1's Intersextions and also had roles in SABC1's Generations, Diamond City just to name a few.
7. Killer kau
The musician was best known for his hit song, "Tholukuthi Hey". The singer went on to have other hits such as Kataliya, Amaneighbor etc. He was just 23 years old when he died in car accident alongside his friend Mpura. The amapiano Genre won't be the same.
Mpura died in a car crush that claimed several lives including that of killer Kau. He was well known in the Amapiano Genre, some of his famous songs includes Umsebenzi Wethu, Izolo etc. The Amapiano scene will never be same.
9. Nokuzola Mlengana
Nokuzola Mlengana was born on the 28th of September 1962. Skeem Saam actress passed away on the 12th July 2021 and she was 58 years of age at the time. She was well known for her role as sis Ouma. It was reported that she died from pneumonia.
10. Steve Kekana
Steve Kekana was born on the 4th August 1958, he was a South African singer and songwriter. He lost his sight at an early age however that didn't demotivate him as he went to release hit songs such as Abuti Thabiso and Fell so strong amongst others. Steve Kekana is reported to have died from COVID-19 on 1st July 2021.
