Bulelwa Mkutukana popular known as Zahara was born on 9 November 1988,is a South African singer and song writer. She grew up loving singing and as she sang along the way she found that she could add a guitar into the mix as she was self taught.
Zahara started showing her interest in singing at the age of 6 when she joined the Sunday school choir. She was given a stage name "Spinach "which led her to the name of Zahara which means "Blooming Flower".
Here music is classified as "Afrosoul" which she sings in her Native language (Xhosa) and she is recognized as a unique lady who is full of potential. Her
music is also classified as a mixture of Tracy Chapman's sound.
Zahara started her career on the street of East London where she was spotted by Tk Nciza of the TS Records who signed her to his record label. Zahara released her first album,loliwe in 2011 which sold out within 72 hours. After 19 days the album was already on a double-platinum,she was the second musican after Brenda Fassie to reach this figure in such record time.
Zahara is now back with a new hit song titled Izolo,could be the Queen back for really this time?
