Beloved comedy Mr Bones makes long awaited return to Mzansi’s screens

Mzansi is in for a treat as two talented actors Leon Schuster and Alfred Ntombela make their way back to the big screens.

The duo are bouncing back with a part three of their two decades old comedy drama sequel Mr. Bones.

The first was released in 2001 with a follow-up in 2008 – Mr. Bones 2: Back From The Past, which follows the adventures of Schuster who plays ‘Bones’ in the movie and Ntombela who plays the ‘Son of Bones’ as they travel between the modernised unfamiliar cities and the rural villages without modern technology on a quest.

Mzansi’s ‘biggest movie exhibitor’ Ster-Kinekor announced the big news with a 1:59 minutes long movie trailer on social media, showing that despite their age, the celebrated comedy duo has still got more practical jokes to share.

“Mr. Bones 3 will be on the Ster-Kinekor big SKreen from 15 April 2022,” announced Ster-Kinekor on Monday.

As much as the news was received with excitement from the Schuster and Ntombela comedy fans, a worrying number of people made the news trend on Twitter, citing a time where Schuster used what is referred to as black face; when a white person wears dark and popularly black makeup to portray a black person.

“At some point Alfred Ntombela and other black people involved in Leon Schuster productions need to be accountable for enabling this racist mockery,” commented one Twitter user on the announcement posted by Ster-Kinekor.

Schuster was slammed for using dark makeup for the role of ‘Mama Jack’ in the movie with the same title.
